Twenty people, including 12 children, were injured Tuesday afternoon by a lightning strike at a lake in South Carolina, officials said.
The incident happened just before 5 p.m. when lightning struck the water at Dominion Beach Park in Lexington County.
Authorities said all 20 victims showed signs of electrical injury, and 12 of them were taken to hospitals.
Crews said all the injuries were non-life-threatening.
Safety inspections will be conducted at the park before it’s reopened.
The strike comes days after a Colorado man on his honeymoon was struck by lightning and killed on New Smyrna Beach.
