The forecast calls for a 30% to 40% chance of rain this afternoon, with a few scattered showers and thunderstorms most likely to develop after noon. Storms are expected to be short-lived but could produce heavy rain at times, especially around the metro area between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
By late afternoon, most of the passing showers and thundershowers are expected to shift westward. The pattern indicates that not everyone will see rain, so it’s a good idea to keep an umbrella handy, but don’t expect a washout.
