MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 41-year-old Umatilla woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Marion County early Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 2:42 a.m. on County Road 42 in the area of SE 258th Avenue Road, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the woman was driving a sedan east on C.R. 42 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.
The car left the roadway onto the south grass shoulder, where it struck a sign, a fence and a tree, the report states.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue, troopers said. It was unknown whether she was wearing a seat belt during the crash, according to FHP.
