Man struck, killed on I-4 after crash near US-192 in Osceola County

Florida troopers investigate fatal wreck

CELEBRATION, Fla. – A 23-year-old Tennessee man was struck and killed on Interstate 4 in Osceola County early Monday after a vehicle he was traveling in crashed on an exit ramp, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal wreck happened around 3:30 a.m. on I-4 west near U.S. 192, northwest of Celebration.

According to an FHP crash report, a 23-year-old Kissimmee man was driving a 2024 Kia Forte when he lost control of the vehicle, which became airborne, struck a tree and barrier wall and overturned on the exit ramp to U.S. 192.

The driver and his passenger, the Tennessee man, then got out of the vehicle, according to troopers, who said the driver went to a nearby hotel to get help from law enforcement and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The FHP said the Tennessee man was walking across the I-4 eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes when he was struck by an oncoming 2024 Honda Odyssey. The man was then struck by another vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

I-4 west was closed in the area, but the interstate was later reopened.

Troopers are still investigating the timeline of the crashes. Anyone with information is asked to contact FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
