ORLANDO, Fla. – On Wednesday, over $33.5 million in airport infrastructure grants were announced.
Additionally, over $12 million will be allocated to expand the Terminal C apron by more than 138,000 square yards to accommodate increased aircraft operations. The grant will also provide $5 million for the Multi-Modal Connector Pedestrian Bridge.
Kissimmee Gateway Airport will receive $1.5 million to reconstruct the lighting on Taxiway A, which has reached the end of its useful life.

District 9 Democratic Congressman Darren Soto announced the grants, surrounded by local leaders from Orlando and Kissimmee inside the Brightline terminal at the MCO.
“This is one of the big cash cows for Orlando Tourism, so we want to improve the traveler experience,” he said. “This expansion is critical considering the trend of safety concerns and flight cancellations we’ve seen nationally, to keep Orlando moving forward.”
There was no timeline given for construction as Soto said they are still in the design process.
