The property is closed to the public on Friday while the crews conduct the burn.

The department is alerting the public to not call 911 to report smoke or flames in this area.

There is also a prescribed burn being conducted by the Florida Forest Service at the Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park in the northern part of Seminole County.

There is smoke “prevalent on SR-429, SR-46 parallel to the 429 and on Rinehart Road.”

Prescribed burns help burn off vegetation that could become an intense fire if left alone.
