17-year-old arrested for fatal shooting during ‘drug transaction’ in Orlando, police say

Damian B. Burden faces multiple charges

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 17-year-old faces a long list of charges related to the fatal shooting of a man in Orlando during a “drug transaction,” according to a news release.

Orlando police said they responded to 5200 North Orange Blossom Trail in reference to a shooting on March 16 around 1:33 a.m.

According to the release, responding officers found a vehicle with a man and woman inside, with the man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man, identified as 26-year-old Jared A. Kinloch, was taken to ORMC where he was pronounced dead.

Police said during an interview, the woman in the vehicle said the shooting happened during the drug deal.

According to the release, police arrested Damian B. Burden on Tuesday. He faces charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted robbery with a firearm in connection with the shooting.

Police said that Burden also faces charges of grand theft auto, armed trespass in conveyance, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a minor, resisting without violence, and not having a valid driver license.

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 1:33 a.m., Orlando Police officers responded to 5200 North Orange Blossom Trail in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle containing a female and a male, with the male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male victim, 26-year-old Jared A. Kinloch, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. During an interview with detectives, the female passenger stated that the incident occurred during a drug transaction. On today’s date, Damian B. Burden (DOB 11/03/2007), was apprehended by the Orlando Police Department TAC Unit. Burden was charged with First Degree Murder with a Firearm and Attempted Robbery with a Firearm in connection with the shooting. Burden is also facing several additional charges stemming from his arrest. Those include Grand Theft Auto, Armed Trespass in Conveyance, Poss. of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Poss. of a Firearm by a Minor, Resisting without Violence, and No Valid Driver License.
